Patient Services at Genesis Medical Center

Primary Medical Care / Surgery

Primary Medical Care

The medical physician in each location is board certified/eligible in Family Medicine and Surgery. Our physicians are focused at finding the cause of your condition for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Our primary concern is educating our patients so they and their families are prepared to make decisions as to treatment options that best suit their needs. On-site surgical options can be available safely for minimally invasive to non-invasive procedures at the discretion of the attending physician.

Chiropractic Medicine

Chiropractic Medicine

Chiropractic Physicians are licensed health care professionals concerned with the differential diagnosis, treatment and prevention of neuro-musculoskeletal disorders, and the effects of these disorders on the nervous system and general health. At GENESIS, Chiropractic Physicians use natural and conservative methods of treatment and respect the human body's ability to heal itself. Chiropractic care involves manual joint manipulation ("adjustment") of the spine or extremity which restores biomechanical joint function and its effects of those muscles and nerves surrounding those joints. Chiropractic Physicians at GENESIS also have the ability to order any diagnostic testing such as MRI's, x-rays, EMG's, NCV's when clinically necessary.

Sports Medicine

Sports Medicine

Sports Medicine focuses on the differential diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of injuries that occur during sporting events and/or physical activities.

At GENESIS, the professional team of Medical Physicians, Chiropractic Physicians, and Therapists combine their extensive physical medicine knowledge to assist active people and athletes to reach their optimal performance in health, strength, and flexibility. Our Physicians and Therapists share clinical experience in sports medicine, muscle strength/conditioning, personal training and athletic training.

Custom Foot Orthotics

Custom Foot Orthotics

Orthotics are orthopedic devices designed to treat or adjust various biomechanical foot disorders and conditions. At GENESIS, we believe that custom-fitting foot orthotics for our patients provide the best results to reduce foot pain and increase biomechanical function. The custom-fitting process can be performed in each clinic and requires us to create a custom impression of each foot. These custom impressions are then sent out to specialists in an orthotic laboratory to create a foot cast or mold. Once this cast is produced, modifications can be made to correct any misalignments with various durable materials and stabilization techniques.

Patient Services at Genesis Medical Center

On-site Health Screenings

Genesis Medical Center has partnered with several community businesses and members to bring several Health Screenings onsite and on location for the purpose of education and prevention. The following are services we currently offer. For a list of our upcoming events call our front office. 317-635-8884 If you know of a location that would like to host one of our community health clinics just let us know and we will place you in contact with our Community Outreach Department at Genesis Medical Center.

  • STD/HIV Testing
  • Dental Exams
  • Glucose and Cholesterol Testing
  • Pain and Injury Assessments
  • Mammograms
  • Head and Neck Cancer Assessments
  • Blood Pressure / Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Vision and Hearing Assesments

Independent Medical Exams

Genesis Medical Center performs condition specific Independent Medical Exams to assess injuries sustained from Workers Compensation or Personal Injuries on behalf of our patients and their attorneys. Our IME's are detailed and focused objectively to asses not only the cause of your condition but the result and implications of that condition that affects your every day life and physical restrictions. We take the time to read and summarize in our detailed report every component of your care plan from injury date to current status. In the end, our Permanent Partial Impairment Rating or PPI will accurately express your disability and injuries sustained.

Diagnostics

Our location has MRI, EMG, X-Ray, Computerized Range of Motion and Gait/Step Analysis.

EMG (Electromyography) / NCV Testing

EMG and nerve conduction studies (NCS) are tests used to examine the health and function of the patient's muscles and nerves.

DIGITAL X-Rays

Evaluates bony structures ruling out pathology, fractures, and evaluates spinal and joint disease.

Computerized Range of Motion & Muscle Strength Testing

This is used to objectively demonstrate soft tissue injuries. Testing provides objective measurements to expose any weaknesses or inflexibilities when comparing the left from the right sides.

Gait/Step Analysis

Gait Analysis is the scientific study of lower extremity movement especially pertaining to the joints of the human foot. Biomechanical analysis of human gait can be quite complex and is difficult to measure when all joints of the lower extremity are considered.

Diagnostic Ultrasound

Medical Sonogram or ultrasound-based diagnostic is a medical imaging technique used to visualize muscles, tendons, and many internal organs, to capture their size, structure and any pathological lesions with real time.

MRI

Accredited by the American College of Radiology

Provided by ProScan Imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a method of looking inside the body. Instead of x-rays, the MRI scanner uses magnetism and radio waves to produce remarkably clear pictures of your head, spine, or other parts of your body.

Therapy and Rehabilitation at Genesis Medical Center

Therapies

Myofascial Release

Specific massage techniques to alleviate muscle pain and associated soft tissue inflammation.

Stretching

Stretching improves ease of movement, posture, reducing injuries and making your muscles lengthen much more efficiently.

Moist Heat

Increases blood flow in injured areas, thereby enhancing the healing process.

Ice

Decrease vascular flow in the tissue thereby enhancing the healing process.

Spinal Decompression

A treatment that creates joint movement through mechanical motion by stretching muscles and ligaments to target spinal discs which may be herniated or bulged. Treatment of these herniated discs in the spine can alleviate pain in the low back, and legs that can feel like tingling, numbness or burning.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation, EMS

Stimulates an injured area to reduce pain levels and dissipate inflammation. Programs is EMS can also aid in rehabilitating weakened muscles.

Ultrasound

A deep heat treatment that promotes healing by increasing blood flow. It may also be used to move fluid (inflammation) from an injured area. This type of modality can also aid in breakdown of scar tissue from old, unhealed injuries.

Joint Mobilization

Passive movements of spine and other joints in extremities to re-establish normal motion, increase flexibility and diminish pain levels.

Taping/Strapping

Devices used to protect and stabilize injured areas to promote healing and encourage proper muscular form and function.

Rehabilitation

Physical therapy and musculoskeletal rehabilitation is the most important part of our conservative treatment plan. Through the results of our computerized range of motion and muscle strength test, our therapists provide various rehabilitation methods to achieve the goals of each patient. The purpose behind each rehabilitation exercise is to increase biomechanical function, endurance, and stability to the injured joint and muscles. We wish to educate our patients with the necessary rehabilitation exercises to maintain strength and flexibility on their own. Hence, the overall goal for our patients is to provide a home exercise program thereby preventing further injury and optimizing muscle and joint function.

Work Conditioning

Work Conditioning (WC) is an intensive, goal oriented treatment program specifically designed to restore physical capacity following injury.

Physical Capacity:

  • Strength
  • Movement
  • Activity tolerances
  • Flexibility

Work Conditioning Exercises:

  • Aerobic Conditioning
  • Education
  • Simulated work activities

These exercises will allow the individual to progressively improve physical function and build work tolerances.

The approach at Genesis Medical Center:

Our therapists function as coaches and educators allowing the individual to understand their limits and capabilities and how to safely proceed on their own.

The Work Conditioning program at Genesis Medical Center allows individuals to transition from acute injury to a return to work status in as short a time as possible. Functional Capacity Evaluation
